Site-responsive audiovisual work

Trees Sway

A projection installation composed for a concrete wall: film, voice and sound, tuned to the room.

Project status

Installed projection · Sheridan College, Sound & Light, Winter 2026 · AI-assisted moving image

Project boundary. This is an academic project — not a claim of commissioned, built, tested, or approved work beyond what this page documents. The projection was installed and documented; the public film excerpt is silent.

My contribution

Moving-image development, voice and sound, projection setup and QLab cues.

01 / Design decisions

Compose for eyes and ears together.

Moving landscapes, voice and environmental sound form one sequence. The silent excerpt below introduces its visual language; installation photographs show how the complete audiovisual work occupied the room.

02 / Design decisions

The room changed the image.

Concrete texture and ambient light affected contrast. Black in the film became an absence of projection. The installation exposed a clear next step: resolve the lighting map as carefully as the cue sequence.

Watch the opening.

Moving-image study · 20 seconds

Silent visual excerpt, not the complete installation soundtrack. Layered tree imagery carries the words “TREES SWAY / TREES STAY”, introducing the film’s ecological cycle. The contrast between the dark lettering and moving foliage is also the legibility problem I encountered in projection.

The original work combines self-recorded narration, ambience and effects. Sound is omitted from this public excerpt. Full music and SFX credits are documented in the project archive. Sound design: self-recorded narration + wind ambience, QLab-cued. Runway-assisted starting frames and shot direction were developed into the edited sequence in After Effects.

What came out of it

The outcome.

A completed film, sound track, programd cues and a documented installed projection.

What I would develop next

Test in a darker room, map the light positions earlier and strengthen title contrast on the actual projection surface.
